The gift that keeps on giving!

So, for Christmas, my sweet little hubby researched and surprised me with a wonderful bread machine(if you know my hubby, you know that it is the best bread machine and for the best price). One of my goals as a wife and mom is to make really good bread. I remember so often coming home from school and smelling bread as I walked in. That was the best thing in the world to me. It made me feel all loved and happy and stuff. So, my mom was a trooper because she did all the kneading herself and it would take her half the day to make enough for the fam. Anyway, I want my family to have the same memories of delicious bread, but I hate spending the whole day doing it and yeast hates me. It knows I fear it and it just dies on the spot. OH, what a wonderful world it is with a bread machine. Although I was really intimidated by it at first because the instructions basically say you have to do it perfectly, I have it all figured out and can even experiment and stuff. Ever since we got it,...

A weekend of Firsts: First Haircuts, First Loves and First Cinnamon Rolls

Image
We finally did it, we turned my baby into a little boy....Before Seriously, that is enough hair for a grown woman to cut off After So, my nieces are seriously in love with David Archuleta and it was so fun to see them get to see him and to be so close to him. We waited for a long time after and ignored the security telling us he wasn't coming out...and he came out. We had such a blast, he was such a great performer and his voice was flawless. Once you got past all of the screaming girls, the concert was actually alot less teeny bopper than I thought it would be. Thanks Suzie for letting me come too. My niece was so exstatic when David signed her poster he couldn't help but laugh. My niece with the ponytail shook his hand right there and then cried when she had to wash it. She also went right up to his dad and asked if she could meet David, it was hilarious. The girl has guts. While we were at Archuleta, Dan and Mason got to go play frisbee golf with my brothers and a ...

Family Blog

So, Dan reminded me that this is a family blog, sometimes I get too passionate about stuff to think clearly. So, I apologize for the controversial post on my blog (although I do hope lots read it and that those who have not, will invest just a little more time in making the decision about vaccines). In case you haven't noticed, I have an opinion on just about everything and it just screams to get out, and sometimes (okay, so most of the time) it wins. So, I will stick to doing posts about my family and save my opinions for my friend Tawnya's blog (I have to have somewhere to let them out). I am however, very grateful that I am passionate about things and that I have to ask why about most things. It is a blessing and a curse, but I wouldn't change it. So, we had a great weekend and I will share some pics later but Mason and I are going to go have some eggs right now.

Quick controversial post

I know I have mentioned lots about vaccines, but anyone who knows me knows that I do not like to be ignorant and I like to share what I learn. My friend, Holly, gave me this website because her friend goes to this doctor (Jenny McCarthey's son who has autism goes to this doctor). He is a major advocate of staggering vaccines. Vaccines are a very touchy subject and something that lots of medical and government agencies are afraid to mention because they are afraid that if parents find out about harmful things in vaccines then they will no longer get them and the problems from that could be really huge. I do not support just not getting any vaccines! That's a little scary. However, even scarier is that fact that the government and CDC and even your doctor sometimes tell half truths (i am trying to be nice, usually it ends up being a blatant lie) and make very important decisions for you by doing so. I think vaccines are very important......however, I also do not support do...

Dear Winter, thank you for taunting us with Spring, love Dana and Mason

Image
It was Spring for a day and we loved every second of it. I know I am just being taunted and can expect another snow storm any day, but we will take it. We made our first outing of the season to the park and Mason's first park trip where he actually cared, and it was a blast. We even saw 2 dogs (Mason can spot them from miles away...no seriously atleast 2 miles). Mason even got a kiss from a little puppy. It was no accident either, he puckered up all by himself and that dog licked him smack on the lips, disguisting, but oh so funny. We also went to the library as a fam last night, for some St. Pats fun, or torture really (the picture will explain). Yesterday was just a great fulfilling day. In my life I have definitely realized that I get out of each day what I put into it, but it has especially hit me hard since entering motherhood, because it isn't just about what I get out of my day, it is about what Mason and I get out of the day, and there is alot of pressure that goes with...

Still REnting

I just want to make sure everyone knows we are still renting, just a big house. That, however, does not make it any less exciting for us because we have room. We are staying in a couple's house while they go on a mission. After that, we are hoping to be able to buy a house....but who knows. Everyone keeps telling us that now is the time to buy and we need to get into a house. Well, my friends thank you for wanting us to get into a house, but it is only a good time to buy if we have a good down payment and a decent cushion each month so thatwe don't strap ourselves to something we can't afford when we get into a jam. Dan has a great job and it is very secure, but housing in utah has still not gone done, we are waiting until it hits rock bottom and then we will take advantage of some poor family that is in financial crisis. (just kidding, mostly). So, just thought I would clear that up, just in case you thought we bought a house, we did notbut we loooove it!!!!

Oh Internet!

Image
Hallelujah!! We got internet today so you are all going to be blessed with a new post from me with lots of pics of my baby who I very proudly (the bad kind) think is the cutest thing ever. Its amazing...an apple every night before bed and the boy sleeps through the nigh. 4 nights in a row...prayers are answered...sometimes not right when you want them...but they are answered. Mason has been hard at work trying to get us into the house. This picture reminds me of the movie "annie" We are sending Mason to the school of Hard Knocks (don't even know what that means). He really just loves to clean. and yes, he is in a drawer. Little Budda here calling upon the gods to bless our house. Why he chose that particular stair to meditate on, I have no idea. He knows he is not supposed to play on them but he just looked so cute and he felt like such a big boy. Also, notice the dissappearing belly :(. My baby is becoming a little boy and slimming up just like daddy. Mason loves the ...

All settled and still no internet.

Just a quick post, we are all settle and unpacked and loving our ginormous house (ginormous compared to what we have been in). Mason loves all the extra room and just runs all over. I let him play out on the back porch off of our bedroom and he just kept walking around clapping and smiling like, "thank you mom". He has learned the stairs finally after some really exhausting days of trying to show him to turn around....oh and one fall down them...so sad...luckily it was the short flight and he barrell rolled. Anyway, things are good. We don't get internet until wednesday, so no posts till then. Mandy is coming tomorrow and we can't wait. K- bye PS- I never thanked Lucas (Doug and Marie's baby) for coming right when I asked. He is so sweet and beautiful and we love him so much.
