The Murphy Family

No worries, I do love this sweet boy just as much as I love Mason. I was a little nervous because I really love Mason and wondered how I could possibly love another boy as much. So easy. This little guy is so dang sweet and such a wonderful addition to our family. Look at him just hugging his daddy When he is tired, he is tired Dan is recovering from the delivery very well He looks alot like Maon did, but has lighter hair...and a hint of red for sure.

Sorry it took so long to get pics up. We were trying really hard to get home last night and we had so much last minute stuff to do to get out of the hospital. We made it out though and were so grateful we did. We got to spend our first night together cozy in our own bed and hanging out with Mason. So, for those who care, I will give a quick rundown of the birth story. Saturday night I started to feel contractions that were a little more intense than your every day Braxton Hicks, so I started to wonder. I didn't sleep that well and wondered if we were close. We went to church on Sunday and I had a few of the same type, but they were so far spaced that I didn't think anything of it. After church I started feeling them a little more frequently but still just assumed I still had a few days of this. About 7 that night I am pretty sure my water broke (not completely, but enough to wonder if my water broke) and contractions started to be a bit more intense and closer together after th...

As I write this post I am holding my new baby, Logan Tanner Murphy. He was born at 4:10 this morning at a whopping 9 lbs. 12 oz. Labor went exactly like we had hoped and we are all doing great. I will get pics up tomorrow, but I am going to try to talk him into going to bed right now. He is amazing and sweet and Mason loves him. Thanks to all who helped us out while we were at the hospital...Natalie, Suzanne, you guys are so awesome!!!

1. Dan brought home a box of caramels from work and it had two giant bricks of toffee and I almost ate a whole one, he had to take it from me, I am grateful for that regardless of the pain it will cause my body later. 2. I am so excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow and am grateful that I get to enjoy it. 3. I get to see if I can make a turkey and good rolls. 4. My house is still clean after a few days. 5. Relaxing and watching football with the fam sounds wonderful to me.

1. For the fact that there was a strong heartbeat at my appt. today and I felt very relaxed. 2. I felt okay about not being dilated at all at my appt. (I know it doesn't really mean anything) 3. Dan, Mason and I went to dinner and did a build a bear and just had great family time. (got a coupon in the mail for a free one up to a certain amount. YOu better believe we did not spend a penny like they hope you do, wahaha.) 4. Dan is going to leave work early tomorrow and then he is done for the week. Yay for awesome family time to just focus on my two boys. 5. Dan really wants me to have a good birth experience and is really working to figure out what he needs to do to make that happen. So, I feel relaxed today. Dan told me that he is really glad that the baby gets to come when he is ready, that made me feel happy. Mason puts his little stuffed baseball player "Boy" to bed each night in the babies bed and covers him up and smooches him and wipes his nose and changes his diape...

So, I am going to do a little gratitude post every day until this baby comes. When things get hard, Dan and I have found that gratitude is ALWAYS the key to getting spirits up. We have so so so many things to be grateful for that it is actually ridiculous. So, here are my 5 things for the day. 1. I have a healthy baby growing inside of me and we are so blessed that he has made it full term. 2. I get another week or so to spend with my sweet little best buddy Mason. 3. My chesties (as my niece calls them) are mine for a little longer. 4. I can sleep through the night for 12 hours if I want to. 5. I feel completely ready for this whole thing to happen. I can't wait to meet this baby, but I can enjoy this next week or two with a relaxed, happy attitude because I have no reason not to and my baby is just getting stronger inside me.

So, tonight as we snuggled in bed and read stories, it occurred to me, "Ah, it's Family HOme Evening night!" We had somewhere to go as soon as Dan got home and we just forgot about it. We decided that since it was well past Mason's bed time anyway that we would do it tomorrow night. Mason hurried out of Dan's nook (crook in the arm where reading must take place) and climbed down from the bed. "Jesus," he said as he walked over to the basket where the nursery manual is (what we use for FHE) and pulled it out. Then he proceeded to say, "Jesus, okay" and climb back onto the bed with the book. Needless to say, Family Home Evening was not pushed to tomorrow. On a very different note, I have another Mason story from tonight. We were at Kohl's (30% off + spend $20 and get $10 off + $10 Kohl's cash from a previous purchase = sweet deal on Dan's new dress shoes). Here is the rundown of what Mason is like at 2 years old. Mostly for posterity...and me to read over and over again next year. Mason is social. That is what he has always been about and continues to be about. He loves to go anywhere and tries really hard to get the attention of strangers while we are there. He knows exactly what he is doing and I love it. I see this awesome little personality just coming out. He loves to make us laugh and will do anything to get the right result. My favorite is when I was getting blood drawn and an old woman walked in. I looked over at Mason and realized he was doing an impression of her. It could have really been humiliating and horrible if she had seen, but she didn’t and I laughed so hard. He hunched over, pretended he had a cane, and put his lips together like he had dentures. Well, Halloween and Mason's birthday have come and gone, but not without tons of fun and candy and toys. We did our fair share of trick or treating at various spots. Man, if you really cared about the candy, you could do some serious damage with all of the events they have the whole week of Halloween. We went to the old folk's home with Uncle Doug, Aunt Marie, and Cousin Luke and it was a lot of fun. They just love tot see the kids. Mason was a dog and he rocked it! Once dad put on the costume (very entertaining), he finally put it on and didn't cry at all after that. Then birthday time. We weren't planning on having a party with friends, but Mason is all about the social, so we figured that is what would make his birthday happy, and sure enough, it did. We invited a few friends and family, had pizza and just partied. The kids went crazy in the ballons and it was just all around fun. I was so excited this year, because Dan said he would make the cake (I have no artistic...

So, I love salsa. No, I really really love salsa. Our salsa consumption has decreased dramatically in the last few months since I can no longer handle anything with tomato because the heartburn that comes with it feels like a heart attack and I don't like the feeling of a heart attack. This heartburn also means I refrain from anything spicy, citrus, chocolate and try to keep oily food out too. This has been hard for me, but in case you forgot, I made some homemade salsa out of our tomatos and can't eat it. That has been a big trial for me :). Okay, I guess I can't really complain, but I am rather excited about the thought of some chips and salsa pretty soon. Not only that, but I get a baby too, which I am pretty pumped about. We are getting SOOOOOOOOOO excited for this little guy to join our family. Mason likes the idea of getting a brother, but I don't know if he really gets that he won't be able to play for awhile. Dan's good friend from Alaska came to visit Utah for a few weeks. He has been living in Taiwan for the last few years and the last time we saw him I was huge and prego. So, we figured since I am huge and prego again, it was time for him to visit. The boys went camping for a night and I am so glad they got to go have male bonding time. I will admit though, even once night and a few days without Dan is much less enjoyable than having Dan around. I really have a new appreciation for women with traveling husbands. I decided to rake the leaves to give Mason and I something to do, and oh how he loved the leaves. He was such a happy little boy just playing right in the middle of our pile. The mailman drove by and got out and asked us if he could take this pic. How nice is that, mailman just made himself a nice Christmas tip. Mas and BFF Madi Our bedtime routine is one of our favorite times. We just lie on our bed and read and sing and be silly. Dan and I both try to be there every sing...

So, a friend and I went to this awesome trail with the kids today and it ended having awesome leaves and cute places for pics. She snapped a few and sent them to me. Mason actually begged her to take some of him and was all about posing. He cracks me up. My favorite part is that he is all posey and cute, yet he still has a handful of goldfish in all of them. There was a huge elk on the trail (behind a fence) that the kids loved. Check out that awesome red leaf Mason is holding. There was a whole tree that color among a bunch of green....amazing. OH, I love fall!

I am just wondering if anyone has suggestions for best gifts for a 2 year old boy. We don't buy toys very often so I always want them to be really good. What are the best toys out there. I am thinking a play kitchen? Play food? I just want to know if there is anything that Mason should not be going without. K- please help.

Now that we live somewhere that is a little less out of the way, we get way more visitors and it is awesome. We NEVER got visitors in L town but people generally aren't passing through there. My sis and her fam came for conference and we got to hang out a bit. We love having visitors and Mason LOVES having visitors. He gets so excited and then talks about them for days after they leave. Thanks guys for fitting us in. We also got some veggies from our very uncared for garden. We canned some salsa, which we have never attempted, and it turned out awesome. The only problem is that I love salsa so much that I don't know if it was even necessary to can it because it won't last us long. It feels good to try out some homemakery things like canning. Mason was a big help and washed all of the tomatos for me, thanks bud! He is getting so dang big and is such a blast. He will be two in a month and I can hardly believe it. Life is great around here. I haven't put prego pics up in awhile. Here I am yesterday at about 28 and 1/2 weeks. I am feeling good. Way less sleepy and just more energized...thank you nesting stage. I am getting very anxious for this one. I am really enjoying that Mason sleeps 11 hours straight through the night and can do most things with very little help, but I am still just dying to have this little one come already. I feel like I have had a great break with Mason now that he is at a pretty easy stage and am ready for a new challenge. Mason is getting to the point where he just wants someone to play with and it is hard to get on the floor and really play. I am very ready for him to have a little bro to keep him company. I am so grateful for my little growing family and feel very blessed to be a mom and wife and to live where I live. I went to a women's conference yesterday and heard some really great things. This weekend was awesome. We had tons of really fun fam time. It all started off a little rocky when I missed my friend's sealing. I went to the wrong temple. Are you kidding? Crazy prego lady or not, you just don't do that. In my defense, I am close to both and thought for sure we had talked about her getting married in the one I went to. Anyway, I was able to get to pics and everything else, but boy did I feel silly when I got to the right temple!! She was beatiful, it was great and we are so happy for her. After that, things went a little more smoothly. We just played hard all weekend and loved every second of it. I love my boys so so much and can't wait to add another little man to the mix. I feel so blessed to be able to have kids...and really really fun cute ones at that. On another note, I have to thank my hubby for being in a really good mood despite the fact that his Iphone (that he has been waiting to get from work for weeks now), although it is sittin...

So, I think anyone who knows me, knows that I don’t like to do things just beause that’s what people do…especially when I feel like it is not necessary but the person telling me has already decided it is. I am beyond frustrated right now. I have to know why a doc is doing a test and if there is not a good reason, I generally won’t do it. I understand docs standardize things a lot and just do the same tests for everyone because it is easier, I understand that I promise, but I just don’t want to be looked at funny when I object or ask questions. I get very nervous when discussing objectionable issues with docs because they are confident they know best and sometimes don’t get where I am coming from. Anyway, I am just so frustrated right now because I am sick of being told, “well you have insurance don’t you” Yes, I have insurance, why does that mean I should do test that aren’t necessary. Have you seen the cost of insurance? Are you begging for them to up my premiums or what? So,...

I always like to document how we are spending our time at home since that is where we spend most of our time. Here is the latest. We fall asleep on dad We try to wak daddy up We put diapers on monkeys and give them hugs. Mason wanted me to put a diaper on this monkey and then he said he pooped and he felt his bum. I laughed so hard. He also got tissues and wiped his nose. He is going to be the best helper ever when this baby comes. We try on every shoe in the closet and walk around....even the really huge ones.
